my way into liking coffee โ˜•๏ธ

do you know how it smells when the coffee is ready in your cup and the scent floats through the room and gives you a feeling of happiness? i don’t. i never liked coffee that i could understand anyone who says they are nothing without it. this summer i worked one month in a company where you get coffee FOR FREE (who just screamed haha?). that was the moment when i said: ok jenny, now you have one month to like coffee. and i asked myself: will it work out? will i like it at the end of the month? will coffee finally be my friend? ย โ˜•๏ธ ย ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝ

sometimes when i go into the kitchen to get a glass of water i can hear someone saying “can you bring me a cup of coffee?”. and in under half of a second you can hear another one saying “for me too please”. as i nearly never say no when someone asks me to do something for them i go to the coffee machine and turn it on. i always have the luck that when i come to it it needs everything: water is empty, chalk cleaning needs to be done and the coffee pad container is full. this is the same as how my luck for loo paper roll is because always when i am on the toilet it is empty. but this is another story. so, lets get back to my coffee story. i love coffee yoghurt and ice cream. or do you know the merci praline? this is nearly the best one. i do not eat it every day but i really love the taste. and i also love the smell of coffee beans. when you open a new box. oh my god so good. but, what i do not like is the hot piece of coffee. when it is mixed with water and in a cup. that is just not my thing.when i say “let’s get out for coffee” i do not literally mean coffee.ย so, when i got into this company i tried, as a result of 90% of my family being coffee junkies, to finally like coffee. my colleague drank coffee with me three times every day. this is quite a lot for someone who does not like coffee or actually never drinks it. should i tell you how my “coffee” was made? i had three different types:

  1. one espresso + one chocolate cream = mochachino
  2. latte macchiato + 2 sugar cups
  3. latte macchiato + waiting until the milk is in the cup + putting the milk cup away and putting another cup for the coffee + adding 2 sugar cups = one cup of milk + espresso shot

this is how i drank my coffee every day. most times i drank type 2. as you can see my coffee was not really coffee. it was something mixed with sugar or chocolate so i have something to keep me awake. and i can tell that i did not drink it because of the taste.

someone told me that humans like something when they try it for at least 21 days in a row. or we adapt to it. so i tried it.this is how it ended:

RESULT: i drank two to three cups of coffee daily. one in the morning (6 a.m.) another one when my colleague arrived (9 a.m.) and the last one after lunch (1 p.m.).ย in my last week i tried something new. i said to myself: “ok jenny, now you are ready to taste real coffee.” the pure coffee with milk. no sugar. no flavor. nothing. i tried it. a cappuccino. ย how did it end? i said goodbye to the coffee while it flowed down the sink. i did not like it. definitely not. i wish i had… or i don’t. i don’t know. coffee is just not my thing. with a lot of milk and/or sugar and/or a flavor i drink it. or in form of chocolate or yoghurt or ice cream. right now i sit next to a cup of my favorite coffee. with hazelnut syrup and a lot of milk. it is cold now but i like it more when it is cold so it is ok. coffee and i are friends, but not best friends. i would always choose tea over coffee.

wanna go drink coffee with me?

tell me when you have time, i will bring my hazelnut syrup.

bye for now,
Jenny ๐Ÿ’•
